Liverpool are prepared to fork out 180 million euros for Asensio

Marco Asensio has shown that he possesses the talent to be one of the next great stars of world football and Liverpool are so enthralled by him that they are preparing a bid of 180 million euros.

The English club have been following him for years and would be willing to make him their star man, with the Reds prepared to cause a splash in the transfer market to get him.

Not only would they be paying a jaw-dropping transfer fee, but they'd also make him one of their best-paid players.

As much as the huge pay packet would be enticing, the fact that Liverpool would be willing to make the 22-year-old their poster boy in a sporting sense could be just as important, as playing time is important at this stage in his career.

For now, Real Madrid and Asensio are both remaining calm about the development.

They've yet to discuss any proposals from Liverpool or from any other clubs who want the player, but this is partly because the Spaniard's focus is on the World Cup and on La Roja.

"It's not the moment to talk about that," he said on Tuesday when asked about where he'd be playing his football in 2018/19.

Later on in the summer, though, the two parties could sit down to analyse the No.20's present and future.

With his 23rd birthday coming up next January, Asensio wants to take a step forward in his career in a sporting sense and, if he is to stay at Real Madrid, he'll want a more important role.

While he has always kept his feet on the ground, he remains ambitious and hopes to enjoy a status at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu that he hasn't quite had in his previous two seasons in the Spanish capital.

He developed a lot as a player under Zinedine Zidane, but was not a regular starter.

Although he played in 53 different matches last season, which was the most along with Lucas Vazquez, he only averaged 54 minutes per game and played just one minute in the past Champions League final.

Liverpool, on the other hand, could offer the kind of increased playing time that Asensio, who'll have heard the rumours linking Neymar and Eden Hazard to his current club, wants.

While he isn't currently planning to make a change, Real Madrid must keep an eye on this situation if they want to prevent a major problem from developing with one of their most promising players.
