Florentino Perez wants to win it all

Another Champions League, this time conquered in Kiev, glossed over abject failures in LaLiga and the Copa del Rey for Real Madrid, something Florentino Perez wants addressed next season.

Zinedine Zidane added four more titles, starting with the two Super Cups in the month of August, followed by the Club World Cup in December and ending with the Champions League.

Any other team would boast of those achievements but not Real Madrid.

Perez and Zidane are the first to recognise that the image offered in both league and cup can't be repeated.

President and coach value what has been achieved in 2017/18, but to concede the domestic championship in October must never happen again.

Something has to change in the preparation of the team and in the team itself, and the time has come to make those changes.

Trust between Perez and Zidane is total and absolute, and the coach feels supported, however, he is aware that, despite the success, he has failed.

The level of the group has not been constant throughout the whole season and the team has not been up to it physically when continuous effort has been required.

Pressure on the startersZidane leant heavily on the team that conquered the twelfth Champions League, and though European success has accompanied the team again, he knows that some renewal is necessary.

The arrivals to cover the losses of Morata, Pepe and James have barely counted for the coach.

Marcos Llorente, Vallejo, Ceballos, Theo and Borja Mayoral have been poor and may well make way for others.

More pressure on the usual starters needs to be introduced and to that end, Nacho, Lucas Vazquez, Casemiro, Asensio and Kovacic will need to step up.

The continuity of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale is beyond the desire of the coach.

Both are part of negotiations that don't include Perez or Zidane at this stage.

The Frenchman wants Ronaldo to stay but hasn't been so demonstrative where the former Tottenham player is concerned.

Benzema and Keylor Navas will continue, but they must assume that competition will come for their position.

The French striker has shown that, under pressure, he offers his best version, while the goalkeeper has won his third Champions League as a starter and has been decisive in games like the one against Bayern Munich.

Zidane knows that he must put his foot down on a daily basis and by allow the arrival of players who raise the competitive level of the squad.

At the club they want to win it all, that is to say both in Europe and at home.

Hence, this summer the club are going to take many decisions regarding staff planning.
