Le Havre's team bus was blocked in and attacked by Ajaccio fans
The French Ligue 2 play-off match between Ajaccio and Le Havre on Friday was postponed after home fans attacked the visiting team's bus.
One policemen suffered minor injuries after a crowd of around 150 supporters threw missiles and stones at the Le Havre bus and blocked it as it was trying to get into the Stade Francois Coty.
The match will decide who faces Ligue 1's 18th-placed team Toulouse for a place in the top division next season - the first leg of that match had been scheduled for next Wednesday.
Le Havre's players suffered shock and did not play their Ligue 2 play-off clash against the team from Corsica
There were reports that a flare thrown at the bus also caused a small explosion and damage to the vehicle's steering and air conditioning system.
"All the players want to do is go home," Le Havre coach Oswald Tanchot said. "The players are somewhat shocked... the decision (to postpone) is normal."
Ajaccio captain Yohann Cavalli tried to speak to Le Havre's players on their team bus
The behaviour angered Ajaccio vice-president Alain Orsoni, who dubbed the small section of his club's supporters as "idiots" who risk "penalising the club".
A Ligue de Football Professionel statement also condemned the scenes, which could lead to any rearranged date being played at a neutral venue or behind closed doors.
