Manchester United have confirmed the next step in Sir Alex Ferguson's recovery from a brain haemorrhage, the former manager having left intensive care.
Rushed to surgery on Saturday, the 83-year-old remains in hospital and will be continually monitored after the successful intervention.
"Sir Alex no longer needs intensive care and will continue rehabilitation as an inpatient," read a United statement on Wednesday night.
"His family have been overwhelmed by the level of support and good wishes but continue to request privacy as this will be vital during this next stage of recovery."
