Craig Slater’s first goal for the club helped Dundee United warm up for the Scottish Premiership play-offs with a 2-0 win over Livingston at Tannadice.
The on-loan Colchester midfielder broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half, converting Billy King’s cross at the back post.
Scott McDonald wrapped up the points with five minutes left, heading in after Stewart Murdoch had seen his effort hit a post.
Livi had earlier gone close when Craig Halkett looped a header against the bar while Scott Fraser saw his effort cleared off the line at the other end.
United keeper Deniz Mehmet saved well to deny Lee Miller, who then headed wide from close range before Jackson Longridge’s headed on to the top of the bar for the visitors as they hunted an equaliser.
United will now face Dunfermline in the two-legged Scottish Premiership play-off quarter-final.
