Gerrard: Salah is the best player in the world right now

After Mohamed Salah's show against Roma, Liverpool's former captain Steven Gerrard has praised the Egyptian by labelling him the best player on the planet at the moment.

The 25-year-old forward scored a brace and assisted another two goals against his former team and the Reds' legend couldn't hide his enthusiasm.

"[Salah] is in the form of his life," he told BT Sport.

"It's difficult to compare him to [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi, because they've done it for so long and they've been consistent year in, year out.

"But, without a shadow of a doubt he's the best player on the planet right now."

Gerrard's cheerful celebrations during the Egypt international's goals were also captured by the camera Anfield TV studio.
