It was a double dose of joy for Mendy after he came off the bench for his first appearance since September 23.

The 23-year-old, who had played just four times before Saturday, needed to feature in one more game for the Premier League champions to qualify for a medal.

And his cameo in the 5-0 thrashing of Swansea helped him reach that figure.

Now it looks like he has used some of his days of to head back to the Catalan city where he underwent a chunk of his rehabilitation along with some friends to celebrate.

Mendy has kept his Instagram followers updated with his trip to Barca by posting snaps onto his story.

The French international began by sharing a video of him on board a plane before checking in at the local El Prat airport.

Him and his pals were then snapped at the Hotel Arts before heading to Shoko nightclub.

Mendy has become a huge favourite with both the City squad and supporters despite his lack of games.

And that relationship with fans and the support from his team-mates has helped to keep a smile on his face for the last seven months, according to the man himself.

He said following his first match back: "The atmosphere has been amazing - I was waiting for this, waiting to come back onto the pitch.

"Being with the players, for the pre-match meeting and everything – it was all so important for me. I have never had a welcome like that, it was the best in the world. When I went on the pitch, the atmosphere was incredible.

"It has been a very long time, but every day I worked hard with the physio, the doctors and the players.

"I knew with this injury we had to wait and work, but nine months on I am strong. I stayed with my family and friends, who helped me through this moment.

"All the time I am laughing with the fans on social media. I am the same as the fans – I go to the toilet and everything, so I am the same!

"I have never been sad. Every day I have been with the team, and in Barcelona I was with other players. All the time I have been happy.
