Boss Simon Grayson hails Bradford response

Manager Simon Grayson congratulated his Bradford side for restoring some pride in the club after “the Blackpool debacle”.

The Bantams extended their unbeaten run to four matches with a 2-0 home win against second-bottom MK Dons – a result that pushes the Dons closer to Sky Bet League Two.

They are six points adrift of safety with only two matches to play and a massively inferior goal difference to their rivals. This was their fifth defeat in a row.

Bradford were heavily criticised by their supporters and Grayson following a 5-0 defeat at Blackpool on April 7, but since then have taken eight points from four matches.

Grayson said: “The players have responded to the Blackpool debacle in the right manner by working for each other, getting blocks in and a desire to improve, which is a good sign.

“There has been a reaction from the Blackpool game. They have responded to criticism and are restoring some pride in the club.

“The aim is to try to be unbeaten to the end of the season and try to give something back to the club that has been missing over the last few months.

“We are pleased with a professional performance. Both goals came at the right time and we saw out the game in the right manner.”

MK Dons’ caretaker manager Keith Millen, who took over after Dan Micciche was sacked at the weekend, said: “We haven’t been relegated tonight, but I think we have to win our next two games by eight clear goals to survive.

“The main thing is the manner of the performance and no-one who came to the game tonight could accuse the players of not trying to win it.

“We have created a lot of chances, but we haven’t taken them and eventually that catches up with you.

“We have played some good football, but we gave them two soft goals – one from a corner, the other from a free-kick. We spoke about set pieces and worked on them in training, but we didn’t deal with them and that is what has cost us.”
