Morton’s play-off hopes are hanging by a thread after they slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Queen of the South.
The home side came close to opening the scoring after 15 minutes when Bob McHugh’s shot on the turn was saved by the legs of goalkeeper Alan Martin.
McHugh scooped a close-range effort over the crossbar eight minutes later, while at the other end Stephen Dobbie brought a fine save from Conor Brennan.
Dobbie hit a post early in the second half and Gary Harkins saw a superbly-struck free-kick palmed away by Martin.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 69th minute when a Dominic Thomas cross was turned against a post by Lyndon Dykes and when the loose ball came back to him, the striker tapped in.
Dobbie had an effort ruled out for offside as the visitors looked to double their lead with a late second.
