Phil Brown frustrated after Swindon held again

Swindon manager Phil Brown was left frustrated as his side blew the chance to move into the League Two play-off places after being held to a 2-2 draw by Yeovil.

Alex Fisher’s well-taken 89th-minute equaliser robbed Brown of what would have been his first home win in charge as the plucky Glovers twice came from behind to snatch a point and dent their hosts’ promotion hopes.

Brown, whose side have now drawn their last four games, said: “I am bitterly disappointed because there were three or four lads out there who should have been on the winning team.

“One-nil is never a safe scoreline, but it’s the manner in which we’ve lost the two points.

“When a team goes gung-ho and decides to shove a centre-half up, and make it physical in your own penalty box, you’ve got to step up to the plate and stand up against that.

“I thought we went backwards, that’s the only fault I’d say about any of the team’s performance.

“You start getting deeper, you start defending your goal line and it’s just the wrong way to defend. Little flicks can drop to anybody, as they did do for the equalising goal.

“The positive is we are four games unbeaten but we should have had at least six more points from those matches.”

Yeovil manager Darren Way praised the impact of his second-half substitutes at the County Ground.

Way said: “I thought the subs made an impact, it was important, I was disappointed with the first half.

“I felt a few players were suffering with anxiety and you get that with inexperienced players that are learning their trade in the game.

“I told to them to believe in themselves when they cross that white line and when you’re in that arena, we can’t do anything to help you and you need to believe in yourselves.

“We’ve had good games, we’ve had poor games, and there were one or two flashes of inexperience and anxiety at times.”
