Augsburg vs Bayern Munich - Hummels focused on securing Bundesliga title with Bayern

Bayern Munich defender Mats Hummels wants his side to look after their own business and seal the Bundesliga title at Augsburg on Saturday.

Bayern, who beat Sevilla in the Champions League quarter-final first leg in midweek, will claim a 28th league crown if they win at the Augsburg Arena, although a point will likely be enough given their vastly superior goal difference over second-placed Schalke.

Still, Hummels wants the job done properly.

He told the club’s official website: “We want to maintain our rhythm. The logical result would be to lift the league title.

“That’s obviously what we’re aiming for. We definitely want to seal it on Saturday, preferably it will be down to us.”

Bayern have doubts over Sven Ulreich and Juan Bernat for the game after they came off injured in Seville.

They both missed training on Thursday but there was much better news for goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who stepped up his recovery from a broken foot by training with a ball for the first time.

The Germany international will not be fit for the game on Saturday, but is expected to be back before the end of the season.

Bayern will be a good bet to get the title wrapped up given their 6-0 thumping of Borussia Dortmund in ‘Der Klassiker’ last weekend, where they were 5-0 up at half-time.

Augsburg striker Michael Gregoritsch has hailed Bayern as “world class”.

“It’s the toughest game of the season,” he said. “Bayern have the best players and it plays on my mind that I’ve not scored against them in five attempts.

“Of course we’ll want to give our all against Bayern.

“It’s impressive how they can turn up against the third-place team, play like that and have the game wrapped up by half-time.

“That shows you how strong Bayern are and shows you the power they have in their team. In the Champions League as well, they came from behind, turned the game around – they are world class.”

Daniel Baier will be back after a virus while Alfred Finnbogason could be in contention after returning to training this week.
