Leeds pair O’Kane and Pennington miss out against Sunderland

Leeds pair Eunan O’Kane and Matthew Pennington have been ruled out of the home game against Sunderland.
Midfielder O’Kane (groin) and on-loan Everton defender Pennington (calf) were both withdrawn from Tuesday night’s defeat at Fulham and have since undergone scans with manager Paul Heckingbottom facing up to the prospect of having to do without them for several games.
Pennington’s absence leaves Pontus Jansson as the only fit senior central defender as both Liam Cooper (thigh) and Conor Shaughnessy (ankle) are also sidelined, so Paudie O’Connor could make his first senior appearance for the club.
Forward Kemar Roofe (calf) is back in training, but midfielder Adam Forshaw (calf), defender Luke Ayling (ankle) and striker Tyler Roberts (shin) all remain sidelined.
Sunderland defender Lamine Kone could return after missing Monday’s 3-1 home defeat by Sheffield Wednesday with a groin problem.
Kone was able to train on Thursday and manager Chris Coleman is hopeful he will be available, although Jake Clarke-Salter’s return from suspension gives the Welshman another option with Bryan Oviedo and Brendan Galloway both doubts.
Marc Wilson started his first game since January 13 against the Owls, and there was also a return as a substitute for striker Joel Asoro after he sat out the 4-1 win at Derby because of concussion.
However, Robbin Ruiter (dislocated finger), Billy Jones and Tyias Browning (both knee), Jonny Williams (thigh) and Duncan Watmore (knee ligaments) are still sidelined.
