Port Vale could be without defensive duo against Stevenage

Port Vale will assess defenders Kyle Howkins and Joe Davis before their home game against Stevenage.

West Brom loanee Howkins missed the midweek draw at Barnet due to a knee injury and remains doubtful, so Charlie Raglan could continue at centre-half.

Right-back Davis was forced off midway through the second half on Tuesday night with a groin strain and James Gibbons is on standby.

Striker Tom Pope and defender Antony Kay (both hernia) are not expected to feature.

Stevenage will be without teenage defender Ben Wilmot, who has been called into the England Under-19s squad.

Wilmot is the first Stevenage player to represent England at youth level and, barring England C internationals, the first to be selected by his country while a player at the club.

Alex Revell serves the final game of his four-match ban and fellow striker Dean Bowditch is doubtful due to the knock that forced him out of last week’s home draw against Crewe.

Matt Godden (illness) and Ronnie Henry (unspecified) are hoping to return to the bench, but striker Alex Samuel is still out.
