Peterhead take advantage of Montrose postponement to go three points clear

Peterhead took advantage of Montrose’s enforced inactivity to move three points ahead at the top of Ladbrokes League Two.
A waterlogged pitch saw Montrose’s game at bottom club Cowdenbeath postponed and Peterhead won 1-0 at in-form Stirling to capitalise.
Third-placed Stirling had won all four of their games in February but James Stevenson’s strike ended their run. Peterhead survived when Mason Robertson cleared against his own crossbar.
Elgin beat Berwick 3-0 to move within a point of Stenhousemuir, who occupy the final play-off spot but lost 3-2 to Clyde.
Thomas Reilly’s 20-yard curler and Stephen Bronsky’s close-range header put Elgin in control at half-time and Darryl McHardy smashed home a third from close range.
At Ochilview Park, Stenhousemuir’s comeback came up short after Chris McStay’s long-range strike and David Goodwillie’s double gave Clyde a 3-0 lead.
Eddie Ferns pulled one back from fellow half-time substitute Alan Cook’s cross and Harry Paton’s goal set up a tense finish, but the hosts could not find an equaliser.
All the goals came in a frantic second half as Edinburgh City won 3-2 at Annan.
Scott Shepherd gave Edinburgh the lead just before the hour mark and Jesus Garcia Tena’s free-kick and Craig Beattie’s header quickly made it 3-0.
Conor O’Keefe and Blair Henderson pulled goals back in the last five minutes, the latter from a penalty, but again there was to be no leveller.
