Crawley to assess forward Thomas Verheydt ahead of Morecambe clash

Crawley will continue to assess Dutch striker Thomas Verheydt ahead of the Sky Bet League Two match against Morecambe.

Verheydt limped off against Lincoln with a knee injury and missed the Reds’ last match at Forest Green, where Jordan Roberts came into the attack.

After the postponement of the Wycombe game, Crawley boss Harry Kewell named a strong side for the midweek Sussex Senior Cup semi-final against Saltdean United, with captain Jimmy Smith scoring a hat-trick in the 6-0 win.

Panutche Camara came off the bench to net twice against the Southern Combination outfit, so could be in contention for a return to the first-team squad.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley may opt to make changes following the 1-0 defeat at Accrington on Tuesday night.

The Shrimps had fielded the same XI which beat Wycombe, but on-loan Wigan forward Callum Lang, fit again following a back problem, is pressing for a recall.

Midfielders Garry Thompson and Andrew Fleming could also feature having both come on during the second half at the Wham Stadium.

Defender Max Muller has returned to training after going to Germany for a family bereavement, so may be involved in the squad again.
