Sam Slocombe set to keep gloves for Bristol Rovers against Northampton

Sam Slocombe should retain his place in the Bristol Rovers goal for Northampton’s trip to the Memorial Stadium.

Slocombe was handed his first start since October in last weekend’s 1-0 win at MK Dons as Adam Smith dropped to the bench.

James Clarke also made his long-awaited return from injury from the bench at MK Dons after being injured on the opening day of the season.

Stuart Sinclair and Ollie Clarke could return in midfield after knocks, as Rovers seek a Sky Bet League One double having won the corresponding fixture at Northampton 6-0.

Northampton striker Kevin van Veen is in a race against time to make his Cobblers’ return.

The former Scunthorpe forward has been out of action since damaging knee ligaments on his full debut on February 10.

Aside from Van Veen and long-term pair Aaron Pierre and Aaron Phillips, boss Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink has no other injury concerns.

Striker Boris Mathis is available after illness as Northampton return to action following last week’s postponement at Blackpool.
