Reading vs Sheffield United - Chris Martin back in contention for Reading
Posted Tuesday, February 27, 2018 by PA
Reading striker Chris Martin returns to contention for the home game against Sheffield United.
Martin, on-loan from Derby until the end of the season, was ineligible to face his parent club at the weekend.
Boss Jaap Stam has reported no new injury problems following his side’s 3-3 home draw on Saturday and is expected to choose from an unchanged squad.
John Swift (hamstring) stepped off the bench against Derby after a six-week lay-off and is expected to feature again. Paul McShane, Joseph Mendes, Callum Harriott, Stephen Quinn and Jordan Obita are all still out.
Blades trio David Brooks, Ricky Holmes and James Wilson all face late fitness tests.
Both Brooks and fellow midfielder Holmes will have back problems assessed, while striker Wilson has missed the last two games due to an ankle injury.
Midfielder John Fleck and goalkeeper Simon Moore will return to contention after completing two and three-match bans respectively.
Mark Duffy and John Lundstram are both pushing for recalls to the starting line-up, while boss Chris Wilder must decide whether to retain Jamal Blackman in goal or recall Moore.
