Hallam Hope strike enough for Carlisle

Hallam Hope scored the only goal of the game as Carlisle claimed a third successive Sky Bet League Two victory with a 1-0 win at Yeovil.

Hope’s strike came in the 48th minute after he was given too much time on the left flank to cut inside and send the ball into the far corner.

The Carlisle striker almost made it 2-0 with a near-identical strike shortly afterwards, this time hitting the base of a post before goalkeeper Jonny Maddison recovered well to block the follow-up from substitute Ashley Nadesan.

The Glovers almost equalised during a frantic period of play when Otis Khan failed to connect with a Jordan Green cross, before goalkeeper Jack Bonham denied Alex Fisher and an Omar Sowunmi shot was cleared off the line.

Lewis Wing then went even closer late on as the midfielder struck a post himself with a well-struck effort from the edge of the box, but the home side could not make the breakthrough.
