Blackpool extend unbeaten run to five matches with deserved win at Portsmouth

Kyle Vassell and Clark Robertson were among the goals as Blackpool cruised to a 2-0 victory at Portsmouth to dent the home side’s play-off ambitions.
Vassell capitalised on a defensive error to net his ninth of the season to extend the Seasiders’ unbeaten run to five matches and steer six points clear of the relegation zone.
The first real chance of the game fell to Pompey target man Oliver Hawkins in the 15th minute when he was picked out by Jamal Lowe in the box but he fired his shot over the bar.
And Hawkins was gifted another chance which he hooked narrowly wide on the half-hour mark after Dion Donohue’s diagonal free-kick was headed across the face of goal.
However, the visitors took the lead four minutes before half-time when Vassell caught Pompey defender Christian Burgess in possession before confidently slotting past Luke McGee in the home goal.
Blackpool doubled their lead through Robertson after 63 minutes when the defender was left unmarked in the Portsmouth penalty area to finish a simple header and secure a deserved away win.
