Preston will be without defender Darnell Fisher through suspension for the visit of Ipswich.
Right-back Fisher starts a two-game ban after he was booked for the 10th time this season in the midweek 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.
Midfielder John Welsh is available again following his own suspension for a red card against Wolves, while the match fitness of captain Tom Clarke continues to be assessed.
Paul Gallagher is also closing in on a return, the Scottish midfielder having missed the last two matches with a hamstring problem.
Ipswich look set to be without striker David McGoldrick for the rest of the campaign because of a groin injury.
The Republic of Ireland international damaged a tendon in his groin during training ahead of the midweek defeat by Cardiff.
Winger Mustapha Carayol was not in the squad on Wednesday night because of illness, while forward Joe Garner will also be assessed having failed a fitness test.
Teenage defender Tristan Nydam could return after his own illness problems, but midfielder Tom Adeyemi (hamstring) continues his recovery.
Long-term absentees Emyr Huws, Luke Hyam, Andre Dozzell (all knee) and goalkeeper Dean Gerken (hip) are all working their way back from surgery.
