Angelo Balanta nets the winner for promotion-chasing Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood secured a nervy 1-0 win over Maidstone to leave themselves in the thick of the Vanarama National League promotion race.
Lee Worgan saved Bruno Andrade’s penalty after Morgan Ferrier was fouled but Angelo Balanta gave Wood the lead in the 36th minute after a scramble in the box.
Maidstone failed to defend Alex Davey’s long throw and though Worgan denied Dave Stephens, Balanta followed up to score.
Maidstone went close in a goalmouth scramble 10 minutes after half-time but they had Stuart Lewis sent off with 20 minutes remaining, ending their hopes of a fightback.
Victory leaves Boreham Wood fourth, among five teams separated by just two points behind clear leaders Macclesfield.
