Burton defender John Brayford will miss his side’s home game against Barnsley due to a calf injury.
Brayford was forced out of Saturday’s goalless home draw against Nottingham Forest, while Ben Turner and Tom Flanagan remain sidelined with similar problems.
Another defender, Damien McCrory, is short of match fitness following a knee injury, so boss Brian Clough may have to change his formation.
Midfielder Luke Murphy is also doubtful as he sustained an ankle knock after stepping off the bench at the weekend.
New Barnsley manager Jose Morais is expected to pick from a virtually full-strength squad for his first game in charge.
Ethan Pinnock is recovering from a broken bone in his foot, while fellow defender Adam Jackson is edging closer to a return following a long-term knee injury.
Loan signing Connor Mahoney is pushing for his first start after stepping off the bench in the Reds’ last two matches.
Striker Kieffer Moore and goalkeeper Adam Davies are among those pushing for recalls to the starting line-up as Barnsley chase just their second league win in 17 matches.
