Birthday boy Adam Armstrong claims Blackburn point

Blackburn Rovers produced a stirring comeback to claim a point from a 2-2 draw at home to 10-man Oldham Athletic.

The visitors were on course for victory after Duckens Nazon’s first-half double – his first goals for the club.

But two goals in eight second-half minutes from Charlie Mulgrew and Adam Armstrong levelled matters as Rovers roared back.

Oldham were reduced to 10 men after Wilfried Moimbe’s dismissal but Rovers could not capitalise.

Relegation-threatened Latics started the brightest and went ahead in the 26th minute as on-loan Wolves man Nazon controlled a long ball and evaded two tackles before slipping the ball beyond David Raya.

He struck his second 12 minutes later, firing clinically into the bottom corner.

Mulgrew pulled Rovers back in it with a sumptuous 25-yard free-kick for his 12th of the season and birthday boy Armstrong converted Bradley Dack’s near-post cross in the 71st minute for his first Rovers goal.

Jack Payne was denied by a stunning fingertip save before Moimbe’s received a second booking for a crude tackle eight minutes from time – but Oldham held on for a point.
