You'll see the best from Lucas Moura at Spurs – Glenn Hoddle

Glenn Hoddle has backed new Tottenham Hotspur arrival Lucas Moura to succeed at the club, saying his best is yet to be come.

The Brazilian winger arrived at Wembley last month from Paris Saint-Germain in a fee worth £23m.

BT Sport pundit Hoddle believes that Moura, who didn't quite perform to expectation in his time at the Ligue 1 club, will find his best form under Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine is known to have a knack for improving his players – the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Heung-min Son all flourishing under his tutelage.

The 25-year-old may have not progressed as much as he would have liked at PSG since his move to the French side in 2013, but there is no doubt that the Brazilian is a quality player.

Given Moura's palette of pace, skills and natural ability, Hoddle believes that he has the potential to be a long-term success at Spurs.

"On reflection, he looks like he's got pedigree," Hoddle told football.london.

"He's not done anything outstanding at PSG, but he looks the part.

"Personally I've not seen enough of him yet really in big games to see if he will be consistent, but I do think he'll add to the squad. I think he'll be a good addition."

Moura spent five years at PSG, scoring 46 career goals in 229 appearances.

The Brazilian moved to Spurs despite attracting interest from Manchester United, and Hoddle believes he is a strong addition to a side that is seeking to clinch a top-four finish – competing with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

"He needs somewhere to settle down, play football and play back-to-back games. I think you'll see the best of him," said Hoddle.

"He could be really exciting for Spurs, but he's got a bit of work to do to prove that."

The Lilywhites are only two points behind third-placed Liverpool after the two sides drew in an eventful encounter at Anfield on Sunday.

Spurs face Arsenal in the north London derby this weekend.
