Owen Coyle frustrated by Ross County collapse

Ross County manager Owen Coyle branded his side’s first-half collapse against Aberdeen “unacceptable”.

County conceded three goals either side of the half-hour mark on their way to a 4-2 home defeat which left them six points adrift at the foot of the Ladbrokes Premiership and without a victory in 13 games.

Coyle’s side were four down just after the hour mark and Alex Schalk’s double proved too little, too late.

“That crazy six-minute spell was unacceptable,” Coyle said. “My disappointment was the reaction to going 1-0 down where they conceded another two eight minutes later.

“We gave ourselves a mountain to climb and it is not good enough.

“I remain confident we can get out of this run. Had we been sitting here three or four games to go six points behind it would look ominous.

“But there is time to change that and a lot of good players to come in to change that.”

Aberdeen Derek McInnes was pleased with his team ‘s ruthlessness in front of goal to kill the game off early. Both Adam Rooney and Kenny McLean hit doubles as the Dons moved into second place.

McInnes said: “The movement was terrific but hands down we were on top of the game. Our dominance showed and at half-time we just wanted to make sure it wasn’t dramatic.

“Kenny McLean was outstanding from start to finish.

“We were maybe guilty of putting one eye on Saturday and took players off which disrupted our flow. But overall there is no doubt we were the better team.”
