STOKE striker Jese Rodriguez has announced he has split from girlfriend Aurah Ruiz.

The Spaniard was criticised by his ex after confirming the break-up, who accused him of failing her in the battle to help their sick son Nyan regain full health.

Model Aurah first exploded last November, accusing the footballer in a social media attack of ignoring his then-four-month-old son while he lay in hospital on their native island of Gran Canaria.

The pair later appeared to patch up their differences, with the 24-year-old frontman posting heartbreaking images of him with his prematurely-born child with an oxygen mask on after being given time off from his club to be by his son's side.

But Jese, who is expected leave the Premier League side at the end of the season, took to Twitter over the weekend to announce: "Through this communique I want to let you know that unfortunately my relationship with Aurah has finished.

"I prefer to do this publicly in order to avoid speculation.

"I want to ask for respect for her, my children, my family and me as we have experienced some difficult and delicate moments with our son Nyan, who thanks God is recovering and progressing well after a recent operation and we hope will be able to leave hospital very shortly.

The dad-of-three, who had two children with a previous partner, added: "I ask you please for respect and hope both Aurah and myself as well as my children, can live a happy and quiet life."

Aurah, 28, who made a name for herself on a Spanish TV dating show, responded with an explosive tweet in which she accused the former Real Madrid star of putting football before his family.

She raged: "Don't ask people to respect me and your son when you are the first person who has shown us a lack of respect, when you get your representative to write a statement for you.

"You failed us in the worst moment of our lives.

"There were a thousand ways you could have moved on, but never with an Instagram communique.

"It's easy for you to leave….the difficult thing is staying because I want to remind you that you're not looking after Nyan.

"Your football always came first and that's why my family put their jobs aside and took turns to look after our son making a sacrifice so that you could carry on with your job, and this is how you've repaid us leaving us all disappointed.

"Thanks to my family because without them none of this would have been possible."

Nyan was born prematurely on June 26 last year - and has been in hospital in the Gran Canaria capital Las Palmas since his birth.

Jese, who is expected to return to Spain at the end of the season after failing to settle at Stoke, was given time off his footballing commitments last month to join Aurah and his son.

The on-loan Paris Saint-Germain forward posted a poignant photo of him and his son alongside the message: "Life puts you to the test once more…but once more I'll stay by your side.

"I will always be there for you when you need me."

He added, in a reference to his model partner: "Together with @aurah.ruiz. We will overcome this."

He also posted a video of him clutching Nyan's fingers in a video alongside the message: "Hold me and don't let go because I'll never let you go. Come on Nyan."
