Chester hit back to snatch point against fellow strugglers Hartlepool

Chester came from behind to draw 1-1 with Hartlepool in the Vanarama National League.
Pools had the chance to take a 34th-minute lead when Devante Rodney’s fierce drive was superbly pushed behind by Sam Hornby – but it took a trio of stunning stops by Scott Loach at the other end to keep them on terms at half-time.
The visiting goalkeeper first tipped over Craig Mahon’s effort then superbly denied James Jones at close range before, just two minutes later, getting a fingertip to Kingsley James’ low drive to deflect the ball around the post.
Hartlepool made the breakthrough just after the hour when, following a scramble in the Chester box, Jake Cassidy squared for Michael Woods to tap in.
But Chester equalised with 13 minutes remaining when Ryan Astles found Harry White and he muscled his way into the box to finally find a way past Loach.
Tomi Adeloye replaced Rodney and almost grabbed a winner within moments after rounding Hornby, but good defending from Andy Halls kept him at bay and preserved a point.
