LIVERPOOL'S chances of signing Real Madrid player James Rodriguez hinge on two things, reports suggest.

Liverpool have emerged as suitors for Rodriguez with the player's long-term future shrouded in uncertainty.

The Colombia international joined Bayern Munich on loan from Madrid in the summer and the player has proven to be a big hit at the Allianz Arena, propelling them to the top of the Bundesliga table.

However, the player's value means Bayern may be priced out of signing him permanently when his loan spell ends next year.

Yet the Liverpool Echo say Liverpool, like Bayern, face a fight to sign the player on a permanent transfer.

It is said they would need a good amount of time to negotiate with Real.

Though the La Liga side were happy to cut him loose in the summer, his value remains high.

Rodriguez cost them £60million after he fired Colombia to the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup.

And though Real have money to burn, Los Blancos would likely demand a similar fee to release a player who is contracted until 2020.

The Liverpool Echo add Liverpool will also have to talk Bayern round.

Rodriguez took time to settle at Bayern following his move.

The 26-year-old was signed by Carlo Ancelotti yet a reunion backfired spectacularly.

But Rodriguez has blossomed under Jupp Heynckes and Bayern would be reluctant to let him go ahead of schedule.

Meanwhile, speaking today, Klopp refused to rule out any more signings this month.

"If something jumps in my face, maybe we would think about it but we don't actively try to find new players that we don't know," said Klopp.

"I've said it before, we have to use the players that we have. That makes sense. We have really high-quality players, especially Adam Lallana.

"He is not the replacement for Philippe Coutinho, he is a completely different player but a fantastic player. He is back, that is good. Are we active? No."
