No talks over new Atletico deal, says Jan Oblak amid Liverpool and PSG links

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has admitted that he has not discussed a new contract with the club, amid uncertainty about his future.

The Slovenian goalkeeper is considered to be one of the best in the world in his position and has recently been linked with a move to both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Neither side, however, have made a formal offer for the player, as he has a contract till 2021 and so is committed for the immediate future.

"I have a contract until 2021, but we have not talked about that yet," Oblak said when asked about the speculation regarding his future.

"First you have to concentrate on the field. What happens, it will happen, but it does not depend on me."

The keeper's inspired form has helped Atletico Madrid rise to second in the La Liga and 10 points ahead of bitter rivals Real Madrid. Liverpool have reportedly begun the process of identifying a replacement for Simon Mignolet, whose performances so far this campaign have been far from convincing, and could see the Slovenian as an ideal choice.

Oblak has not requested a transfer and is understood to happy at the club, but still hopes they can improve even further and catch up with Barcelona in the title race.

"You cannot discard anyone," Oblak continued.

"Madrid are a great team. I hope we get closer to Barca. We have to go game by game, not further, because in a day things can change."

The stopper began his career with Slovenian side Olimpija before moving to Portugal with Benfica. He won the Primeira Liga's award for best goalkeeper 2014 and subsequently moved to Atletico Madrid for a €16m fee – a La Liga record for a goalkeeper.

Oblak has conceded just 0.42 goals per games so far this season for Atletico, who have conceded eight goals. Just six points separates second place Atletico from leaders Barcelona.

His record as a goalkeeper is only bested by Ter Stegen in terms of clean sheets per game, the Barcelona shot-stopper also having had a solid all-around season, with both registering the most shut-outs overall in La Liga (12).
