Ronaldo passed his first ever football trial as... a goalkeeper!

Although he was known as one of the most lethal strikers in the history of football, Real Madrid ambassador Ronaldo Nazario claimed that he had his first ever trial as a footballer between the goalposts.

El Fenomeno got into football via futsal, but he had to excel in an unfamiliar position for him.

"I went to a trial in Valqueire, but as Futsal was very challenging, there were about 50 children to do the same trial," he said in his interview on YouTube's program 'Canal Zico 10.'

"I wanted to play on the right wing, where most of the people were as I still couln't shoot well with my left.

"There were people in every position, but there were only three goalkeepers.

"I completed the trial as a keeper and I passed, but in training I changed my position and never looked back."

The former Los Blancos striker also recalled his transition from futsal to football.

"I started in the youth ranks of Sao Cristovao and in my second year I went to the youth team while Jairzinho was a coach in the first team," he continued.

"Later, when I was 15 years old, I went to Cruzeiro and I played for a year in the junior team."

PSV Eindhoven was the team that brought Ronaldo to Europe and he claimed that the weather conditions weren't an obstacle on his way to achieving his personal targets.

"I didn't care about the cold or anything else; I just wanted to win," he added.

"Young people today have to have in their mind that you need to dedicate yourselves, even when you suffer an injury, because in the end that makes you stronger."

In their quest to build a team full of football stars, Real managed to lure Ronaldo back to Spain.

"[My time at Real Madrid] was incredible," he concluded.

"I had a great time, especially in training because there you could see the elegance of a relaxed [Zinedine] Zidane, doing things that in games is perhaps more difficult to show off.

"We had a lot of fun, inside as well as outside the field."
