Brechin held by Morton
Posted Sunday, January 07, 2018 by PA
Brechin are still searching for their first Ladbrokes Championship win of the season after sharing a 1-1 draw with Morton.
Connor McLennan gave Brechin the lead in the seventh minute as Andy Jackson broke into the box down the left wing and his pull back picked out McLennan, who made no mistake when firing past Derek Gaston.
The lead lasted just five minutes though before Bob McHugh levelled. Gary Harkins' corner caused panic in the Brechin box and the ball dropped to McHugh and he blasted home from close range.
Gaston then produced a fine save to keep out a Jackson header before Scott Tiffoney drilled narrowly wide for Morton.
Graeme Smith then brilliantly tipped an effort from McHugh around a post shortly before the break.
Gary Oliver headed Thomas O'Ware's cross wide and Andy Murdoch drilled narrowly wide from Oliver's cross as Morton just could not find a winner.
