Real Madrid set to make big offer for Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard has had a tricky season at Chelsea, finding the net in only three out of 17 Premier League matches, although he had braces in two of those.

He has registered just two assists in that time as well, meaning he is well below the standard he set last year, where he had nine goals and set up three more by this point in the season.

However, he is still a fine talent, and though he may not be directly involved in the outcome of the game as much as previously, his presence on the pitch worries defenders and creates space for his fellow attackers.

Hazard is already in his sixth season at Stamford Bridge, winning two Premier League titles, the Europa League and a League Cup title in that time.

The Belgian has scored an impressive 80 goals in 274 appearances from the wing for the club, which is why he's been coveted by the biggest clubs throughout his career.

One of those clubs is Real Madrid, who are having an absolute shocker of a season, on the back of their La Liga-Champions League double last term.

After losing 3-0 to Barcelona last week, Zinedine Zidane's men are 14 points off the top of La Liga, albeit with a game in hand, while they finished second behind Tottenham in the Champions League group stages.

That resulted in a nightmare draw with PSG, while questions have been asked about Gareth Bale's fitness, Karim Benzema's ability, and Cristiano Ronaldo's form this year, and the latter isn't getting any younger.

Which is why they're about to ramp up their efforts to bring Hazard to the Bernabeu, with an initial bid of £120m being quoted, according to the Sun.

Hazard is reportedly unsettled at Chelsea, and has already rejected an offer of a new contract at the club, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2020.

Hazard's father, Thierry, has claimed his son is waiting to hear of an offer from Real, with that being his ideal destination if he leaves the Blues.

"Eden has refused a contract extension to able, if necessary, to follow interest from Real Madrid," he said.

Chelsea will be concerned about when to cash in on their star man, with his value only going down as his contract nears the expiry.

The winger has previously spoken about his desire to play under Zinedine Zidane, who was his 'idol' as he was growing up.

"Everyone knows the respect I have for Zidane as a player, but also as a manager. He was my idol," he started.

"I do not know what will happen in my career in the future. However, for sure, to play under Zidane would be a dream."

It looks like we could be set for another transfer saga over the next few months, with Real unlikely to be deterred as they aim to close the gap on Barcelona.
