Harry Forrester set to return for AFC Wimbledon

Harry Forrester could return to the AFC Wimbledon starting line-up for the clash with Southend on Monday.

Following injury and suspension, the midfielder came off the bench against Gillingham on Saturday and scored a late equaliser.

Cody McDonald continues to play despite a fractured metatarsal, with Neal Ardley's options limited by injuries to Kwesi Appiah (hamstring), George Long (groin) and Barry Fuller (ankle).

It had been hoped Appiah could return soon but he may have to go under the knife to find a long-term solution to the problem.

Southend look set to be without captain Anton Ferdinand after the defender limped off in the first half of Saturday's home defeat to Shrewsbury due to a knee problem.

Midfielder Josh Wright also later went off with a hamstring complaint, so will be assessed.

Winger Michael Kightly (hamstring) and midfielder Michael Timlin (ankle) are stepping up their rehabilitation.

Goalkeeper Ted Smith is also close to being fit against following a shoulder problem, while centre-back Rob Kiernan is recovering after undergoing an operation on his knee.
