Fleetwood win again as misery continues for Bury

Posted Sunday, December 31, 2017 by PA

Fleetwood eased to a 2-0 League One victory at Bury to make it back-to-back away wins over the festive period.

Town were slightly fortunate to be leading at half-time through Ash Hunter's 24th-minute strike but Devante Cole then struck after 47 minutes to condemn rock-bottom Bury to a fourth straight defeat.

The hosts went close early on through Andrew Tutte and Jay O'Shea before Fleetwood's Cian Bolger headed wide.

The Cod Army went in front shortly after as George Glendon's cut-back was deflected towards Hunter, who fired low past Leo Fasan.

Bury replied with Callum Reilly's 25-yard shot forcing Chris Neal to tip over while Stephen Dawson also tested the visiting goalkeeper.

Just after the interval, a hopeful ball over the top caught Fasan stranded and Cole dinked the ball over the Bury keeper for his 12th goal of the season.

Cole then glanced a header wide and Bury almost gave themselves hope late on as Craig Jones' low shot was parried by Neal before fellow substitute Chris Maguire volleyed wide.
