St Mirren go top of table after Cammy Smith winner sinks Dunfermline

Cammy Smith scored the only goal as St Mirren went top of the Ladbrokes Championship table with a 1-0 home win over Dunfermline
The visitors went close to opening the scoring after six minutes, but Ryan Williamson's shot was forced behind for a corner. Referee Craig Charleston then booked visiting keeper Sean Murdoch three minutes later for bringing down Gavin Reilly when he was through on goal.
Following sustained pressure St Mirren took the lead after 38 minutes when Smith applied the finishing touch in a well-crafted move by the home side before Reilly wasted a chance to increase the lead when he raced clear but lobbed over close to half-time.
Dunfermline's Joe Cardle fired wide from a chance early in the second half and the visitors were denied a penalty after 64 minutes when Charleston awarded the home side a free-kick as Williamson clashed with Adam Eckersley on the goal-line. Fraser Aird wasted a late chance to equalise, firing over the St Mirren bar as the home side held out for the victory.
