Alaves continued their upturn in fortunes under new boss Abelardo Fernandez to beat struggling Las Palmas 2-0 at Estadio Mendizorrotza and leapfrog them in the LaLiga table.
The hosts came into Friday night's match looking for a second successive league win after coming from behind to defeat Girona in Abelardo's first match in charge, which put them a point ahead of bottom club Malaga.
Las Palmas, meanwhile, had recorded a first LaLiga win in 10 matches when defeating Real Betis 1-0 last weekend.
Alaves went ahead in the 23rd minute as Ibai Gomez netted the rebound after Alfonso Pedraza's low 20-yard effort had been saved.
On-loan Barcelona forward Munir El Haddadi doubled the lead 10 minutes into the second half when he stabbed the ball in at the near post.
Defender Alexis later hit the woodwork as Alaves closed out a comfortable win to leave them in 18th place, two points above Las Palmas.
