Late goals see Wycombe through against 10-man Leatherhead

Craig Mackail-Smith and Adebayo Akinfenwa struck lack goals to give Wycombe a 3-1 FA Cup second round victory over battling 10-man Leatherhead.

Sammy Moore's Isthmian Premier Division side, the lowest ranked team left in the competition, had taken a shock eighth minute lead as Jack Midson converted a penalty after having his shirt tugged by Sido Jombati for his 12th goal in the FA Cup this season.

The Tanners could have gone further ahead but Sean Clohessy was denied by Scott Brown and Yannis Ambroisine headed against the bar.

But Sam Saunders equalised with a sensational 35-yard free-kick after 29 minutes and, despite a feisty game, the League Two side kept their cool to progress.

Mackail-Smith put the hosts in front with 15 minutes to play, scoring on the rebound after Zaki Oualah had kept out Akinfenwa's left-footed drive.

Leatherhead then had player-manager Moore sent off 12 minutes from time for a second yellow card following an altercation with Joe Jacobson.

And Wycombe added a third in injury time as Akinfenwa headed in Matt Bloomfield's cross.
