Newport are through to the third round of the FA Cup following a 2-0 victory over Cambridge thanks to a pair of volleys from Joss Labadie.
The Exiles' captain caught Cambridge napping at a free-kick in the second minute to give Mike Flynn's men hope of getting their names in the hat for the draw.
He was in the right place at the right time eight minutes before the final whistle to make sure they advanced after a charging run from Frank Nouble.
It only took 80 seconds for Newport to go ahead thanks to Labadie. Cambridge striker Uche Ikpeazu fouled Ben Tozer just outside his own box to give Matty Dolan a chance to deliver a cross.
When he did, there was no one picking up Labadie, who ran across the near post and volleyed into the net.
Liam O'Neil had a chance to equalise eight minutes later but sent a half-volley a yard wide of Joe Day's goal.
But Labadie made sure in the 82nd minute when he fired the ball into the bottom corner after an inch perfect cross from Nouble.
