Plymouth are through to the FA Cup second round following a 1-0 win over Grimsby at Home Park thanks to Graham Carey's fourth goal of the season.
Playmaker Carey got League One basement side Argyle off to another ideal start, curling the ball into the top corner with an exquisite left-foot curling strike after nine minutes.
After that he was instrumental in all that was good about the Greens in the first half.
Grimsby goalkeeper James McKeown flapped over a goalbound Carey 20th-minute free-kick that was destined for the top corner from 20 yards.
McKeown then held a direct strike by Jake Jervis, with Carey yet again involved in the build-up.
Argyle pressed for a second goal with Carey curling another 20 yarder just around the goal and then swept past three defenders to try his luck again after 41 minutes.
Yet again his low shot spun just wide of goal.
Argyle's on-loan Norwich keeper Remi Matthews had to dive to his right to palm Siriki Dembele's 20 yard shot around the post, but there was no comeback.
