Sam Stanton at the double for Dundee United

Sam Stanton returned to haunt his former side with a first-half brace as Dundee United bounced back to winning ways with a 2-0 Scottish Championship victory at 10-man Dumbarton.
On-loan midfielder Stanton got the visitors off to a great start with an opener just two minutes in as he curled Billy King's assist into the top corner from 20 yards out after some great build-up play from Jamie Robson.
The Hibernian loanee, who spent last season on loan at the Dumbarton Football Stadium, doubled his side's tally 13 minutes later as he picked out the bottom corner to see his old team go further behind.
Dimitris Froxylias and Christopher McLaughlin were both denied as the home side tried to claw their way back into the game, while Craig Barr received his second yellow card for a bad foul after 63 minutes to leave the hosts with a disadvantage as they slipped down a spot to eighth.
