Kristian Dennis nicks late point for Chesterfield against Carlisle

Kristian Dennis scored a late goal to rescue Chesterfield after Carlisle had come from behind as the teams fought out a 2-2 draw at the Proact Stadium.

Jak McCourt put Chesterfield ahead but Danny Grainger and Richie Bennett turned the game around only for Dennis to pounce with six minutes to go.

Chesterfield dominated possession without seriously threatening Carlisle until the 40th minute when former Chesterfield defender Gary Liddle was booked for a foul on Joe Rowley and McCourt sent a skimming 25-yard free-kick inside Jack Bonham's right post.

Carlisle had to improve in the second half and they equalised in the 55th minute when Grainger headed in a corner from six yards.

Briggs was unlucky when his 20-yard shot hit the crossbar in the 64th minute and Chesterfield were behind 10 minutes later as Bennett was given too much room to line up a 25-yard shot which found the bottom left corner.

Chris O'Grady should have equalised when he headed over from eight yards and Bonham made a great save from Dennis but the striker scored in the 84th minute with a header to earn a precious point.
