Arsenal skipper Per Mertesacker praised Mesut Ozil's performance against Everton
The German star has been accused of going missing in the big games too.
But he put in an outstanding performance in the Gunners' 5-2 win over Everton on Sunday.
And Arsenal skipper Per Mertesacker was particularly impressed with his work-rate as well as his creativity.
"People talk about the way Mesut creates chances, which he did brilliantly against Everton, but I was equally impressed with his high intensity runs," he wrote in the Arsenal pre-match programme.
"His combination play has always been strong and on Sunday you felt like he was never going to lose the ball.
"He made himself available in-between the lines and combined very well with the other lads."
Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are rested for Arsenal's Carabao Cup tie against Norwich, as Arsene Wenger fields a team mixed with youth and experience.
Mertesacker has been in fine form himself since coming into the side following Shkodran Mustafi's knee injury sustained on international duty.
And he's pleased to be playing alongside him compatriot Ozil, rather than against him.
"When he's at that level, when he makes those high intensity runs, he's so difficult to defend against," he added.
"We're pleased because the link-up play of our front three is vital for our game and to put pressure on the opposition.
"We made him shine because we gave him the ball in the right areas. He took advantage of that."
