Late Murdoch strike earns Morton victory over Brechin

Morton ended a run of two defeats as Andy Murdoch's late winner consigned bottom side Brechin to their fourth successive Ladbrokes Championship loss with a 1-0 defeat at Glebe Park.
Morton went close after 10 minutes when Robert Thomson clipped the ball back from the left for Bob McHugh but Brechin goalkeeper Graeme Smith made a great block at his feet.
Thomson was unable to get on the end of a Ross Forbes cross after half an hour and the latter then saw his free-kick deflected just wide off the defensive wall on the stoke of half-time.
With 66 minutes gone Morton's Jai Quitongo nearly marked his return with a goal only to see his diving header deflected narrowly over the bar before Gary Harkins fired straight at Smith with 15 minutes remaining.
But the deadlock was finally broken with midfielder Murdoch driving into the bottom corner with nine minutes to go.
