Romelu Lukaku will "bully" Liverpool's defenders with his pace and ruthlessness in front of goal, says Phil Babb.

The Belgian striker failed to score regularly against the top sides during his time at Everton and has the chance to silence his doubters when Manchester United visit Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Despite this, Babb has dismissed the idea that Lukaku fails to show up during the big games, and insists the striker has nothing to prove after his breathless goalscoring form that has seen him score seven Premier League goals in as many appearances this season.

"I don't think there is (a question mark over him in big games)," Babb said on Sky Sports.

"The stats say that but just look at the form he's in. Is he going to score goals against the big teams this year? Yes, undoubtedly."

Manchester United have yet to face a "top-level" club in the Premier League this season, high-scoring wins over Everton and West Ham. Their visit to Merseyside in Saturday's early kick-off will be a test for Lukaku, though Babb maintains that he is already currently the most lethal striker in the world.

"I read somewhere this morning that a journalist says he's the best striker in the world at the moment," said Babb. "He just seems to be in the right place at the right time.

"If you're talking about the big teams and he goes up against the centre-halves of Liverpool, they're going to be in for a rough ride this weekend."

'He can certainly bully them'

According to Babb, Lukaku will best any of his Liverpool opposition with his pace, strength and sheer clinical nature in front of goal.

"He can certainly bully them, he can match them for pace. He's just sniffing goals out, like I said, you'd expect Lukaku to be turning and running at players.

"He's kind of sniffing out goals in the penalty box and the six-yard box.

"He just believes he can score in every single game and clearly already I would say it's between him and Harry Kane for the Golden Boot."

Manchester United head into the clash joint-top of the table and level on points with Manchester City, while Liverpool are placed seventh in the league.
