MANCHESTER UNITED are favourites to sign Mesut Ozil from Arsenal, according to the bookies.

Manchester United are being heavily linked with a move for Ozil as his Arsenal career draws to a close.

The Germany international's contract at the Emirates expires next summer and a parting of the ways is growing increasingly likely.

Jose Mourinho wants a reunion with the player who previously worked under him during a successful stint in Spain at Real Madrid.

And BetStars have made the Red Devils favourites to sign the midfielder should he, as expected, decide to leave Arsenal to pursue a new challenge elsewhere.

Chelsea and Manchester City have an outside chance of signing the 28-year-old at 9/1, with Liverpool and Tottenham then priced at 12/1 and 33/1 respectively.

BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion said: "Mesut Ozil's Arsenal contract expires next summer and the German midfielder's availability has of a number of European clubs on red alert.

"Manchester United are the current favourites at 3/1 to be the 28-year-old's next club.

"Jose Mourinho, who signed Ozil at Real Madrid, is keen to use his ties to entince the No10 to move to Old Trafford.

"Barcelona are also interested in signing the playmaker as a suitable replacement for Neymar and are priced at 5/1 to pinch the World Cup winner.

"A return to Real Madrid can be backed at 7/1.

"Premier League giants Chelsea and Man City are both priced at 9/1 to acquire Ozil, with Liverpool loitering at 12/1."

Inter Milan have also been tipped to bring Ozil to Serie A.

But the club's sporting director Piero Ausilio cannot see a move to the San Siro happening in January.

"We are studying our squad, we have scouts everywhere and they look at every kind of player," he said.

"I don't think players like him (Ozil) will be leaving in January.

"Luciano Spalletti knows this team has room from improvement, that's what we are working on.

"A new centre-back? We are looking for new opportunities but we have D'Ambrosio and other Primavera team players."
