Robert Lewandowski wants to leave Bayern Munich

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI has reportedly told his representatives to force through a move to Real Madrid.

Lewandowski has scored over 100 goals for Bayern since joining in 2014 but his relationship with the club has become strained in recent weeks.

The Polish striker questioned the ambition of the German side amid huge spending by the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

He said: "Bayern will have to come up with something and be creative if the club wants to keep bringing world-class players to Munich.

"And if you want to compete at the top, you need to have these quality players."

But Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hit back at Lewandowski, questioning his loyalty and dismissing his criticism.

However Spanish newspaper AS say Lewandowski believes he is at the 'optimum moment in his career'.

The report says Lewandowski does not want to go to war with Bayern but the striker only wants to play for Real and wants the two clubs to agree a fee.

A stumbling block in any potential deal is Real's policy not to sign players over 30 and as a result, their sights are set on RB Leipzig's Timo Werner.

Lewandowski is said to feel that Bayern no longer have the mentality to compete in Europe and is unhappy with manager Carlo Ancelotti.

In December 2016, Lewandowski signed a contract extension committing until 2021.
