Barcelona leave Andres Iniesta hanging over new contract status

Andres Iniesta has been left in the dark over his future at Barcelona.

After delaying new contract talks last season, Iniesta has seen no progress over negotiations this summer and is now well inside the final year of his current deal.

Sport says Iniesta is yet to hear from Barca about new terms.

Their last conversation involved directors suggesting an open-ended contract, with the option to decide upon his role once he hangs up the boots. But nothing, as yet, has been formalised.

"I am clear that in this club we can not lose the respect for people who have given their lives for these colors," declared the midfielder last week.
