Tottenham star Harry Kane insists it is time for Spurs to deliver
Spurs lost to Chelsea at their temporary Wembley home for the fourth time in a row on Sunday and have now won just two games out of the last 11 they've played there.
Kane claims it's far too early to write them off but admits it's time they proved they can win the Premier League after near misses in the last two seasons.
He said: "Yeah, that is what we have to do. Third, second - the only way we can improve is to win something or win the league.
"That is our aim. That is always our aim. We have to keep doing what we are doing and hopefully it will happen.
"We can take a lot of positives from the way that we played. We dominated the game and had the better chances first and second half. It is about being clinical.
"It is a long old season and we have plenty of time and games at Wembley and we need to keep doing what we are doing. It will come."
Spurs have been right in the title race for the last two seasons but have struggled to make that final leap and also lost to Chelsea in last season's FA Cup semi-final.
The weakness of their squad was highlighted on Sunday by a bench including Moussa Sissoko and Kevin Wimmer, who are both set to leave, flop striker Vincent Janssen and promising but inexperienced youngster Kyle Walker-Peters.
The £38m signing of Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez will help, but while he'd like to see reinforcements arrive, Kane insists the current squad is good enough.
He said: "That is not my decision. That is the manager and the chairman's decisions. We do what we do. We have a good squad.
"There are no complaints. It is not as if we played bad and Chelsea were better than us. It is just that they had two or three chances and scored two of them.
"We had eight or nine and we only scored one. We will see what happens in the next couple of weeks. The manager will decide who he wants and we will go from there."
Mauricio Pochettino is still hoping for another three players before the transfer window shuts a week on Thursday – but the Tottenham star wants to see it close before the season starts.
He said: "It's a relief as a player when the window closes. There have been talks about maybe closing it before the start of the season. I think that would be good.
"You get on with the season. At the minute there is always players going here and there is a lot of talk for some players and maybe they should be concentrating on the season.
"Let's see what happens in the future but in my opinion I think it would be good to end it when the season starts."
