Carlo Ancelotti was able to breathe a huge sigh of relief as his Bayern Munich side followed up a string of poor pre-season results with victory in the German Super Cup.
With just a couple of minutes to go, they were trailing 2-1, but some penalty-box pinball ended with Roman Buerki turning the ball into his own net, sending the match to penalties - with no extra-time played.
Before that, Christian Pulisic has given Borussia Dortmund a one-goal lead in the 12th minute, which was cancelled out by Robert Lewandowski six minutes later and reinstated by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 71st minute after a speedy counter attack.
Then, in the penalty shootout, the score was 4-4 after the first five kicks and the players who wouldn't usually take penalties were forced to step up.
Niklas Suele scored his in emphatic style, but Marc Bartra missed for the home side and Bayern take the trophy back to Bavaria.
