Jurgen Klopp finally comments on Liverpool's pursuit of Naby Keita

It's been a good summer for Liverpool in some ways, but they haven't quite secured the targets they wanted as of yet.

While they secured Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson for around £45 million, both Viril Van Dijk and Naby Keita - two players who very publicly want to come to Liverpool - haven't been as easy to acquire.

The Reds had to back off Van Dijk after coming on too strongly in the early going and were forced to apologise to his club Southampton when they lodged a complaint to the Premier League.

It seems as though Van Dijk has his heart set on a move to the Reds though and with no other clubs willing to pay his huge fee on the strength of that knowledge.

Keita, however, is a different kind of situation. Liverpool have had two bids rejected thus far and his club, RB Leipzig, are just straight up refusing to sell him.

It's quite admirable how the German club are taking the stubborn approach. Especially seeing as they only enjoyed their first ever season in the Bundesliga last year and managed finish runners-up in the process.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp finally commented on the club's pursuit of Keita following Saturday's 3-0 win over Hertha Berlin and he had an amusing take on the situation.

Speaking to Sky Deutschland, Klopp said: "Our next offer for Keita is €300million!"

Klopp may be laughing about the money being spent in the market today, but it's more likely a sign that Liverpool will not be giving up on their main target anytime soon.

Speaking at a coaching convention, cheif executive Ralf Rangnick said of Keita's and Emil Forsberg's speculation: "There should be someone who points them into the right direction.

"The boys themselves are not the problem here. It is their surroundings.

"A whole village in Guinea or somebody from their entourage tells the players why they must do something right away. I can't blame the players.

"I expect them to play for us next season. Both are extraordinary players who make the difference for our team."
